It’s an exciting time for Carnegie Mellon Today.

Since its premiere issue in April 2004, the quarterly magazinehas been the university’s flagship publication. Currently, its circulation exceeds 100,000, including all alumni, faculty, students, students’ parents, staff, and select friends of the university. Among its readers are Nobel laureates; billion-dollar hedge-fund managers; and winners of Pulitzers, Oscars, Tonys, Emmys, and Grammys. The magazine has won 121 regional, national, and international editorial awards since 2007.

The magazine’s commitment to excellence, which has been the driving force behind its success, isn’t going to change. And, beginning in the 2015-16 academic year, that same commitment to excellence will be prevalent at the launching of the revamped carnegiemellontoday.com website. The goal is to expand the magazine’s readership well beyond the university community, through a state-of-the-art online magazine that appeals to a global audience.

The robust site will be packed with timely, important stories—many of which will tackle subjects from the world’s current headlines. There will be a new feature appearing on the site each week, which will add up to 52 online features annually (as compared to 16 print features). The stories will also have online enhancements, such as video clips, and the overall site will have interactive capabilities and real-time news perks. In essence, carnegiemellontoday.com will be more of a daily magazine than a quarterly publication.

The print magazine isn’t going away, but it will have a new concept and new publishing schedule as well.

Check back here in the coming months about the changes in the online and print magazine at carnegiemellontoday.com, and look for the online magazine re-launch this September.
