The spirit of Andrew Carnegie is in Qatar, as a bagpiper performs in front of distinguished guests and students to begin CMU-Q’s 10-year anniversary celebration. Soon after, CMU President Subra Suresh takes the stage. During his remarks, he says:

NF 8 V11n3"Governments around the world are realizing the critical importance of education, research, and innovation in transforming lives. I can think of no other nation who has responded as vigorously and imaginatively as has Qatar.”

Since Qatar founded Education City as its education hub, there are now eight universities and the Qatar Science & Technology Park, home to start-up tech businesses. CMU-Q, launched in 2004, now has 400 students in five programs.

Among those participating in the March 18 celebration was Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation.
