Erik Lawson (A’12) is a theater artist and storyteller who works in tones and noise rather than words. Based in New York City, he reports he is “busy” as a freelance theater sound designer and composer. He’s also the recipient of the 2013 Robert E. Cohen Sound Achievement Award, given by the U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology to recognize sound designers at the beginning of their careers. Lawson credits faculty member Joe Pino for building a program that has quickly attracted such national recognition. No doubt Hidenori Nakajo (A’10) would agree. He was the 2012 winner.
