Did you know that a broken microwave can disrupt a wireless network? So can a hacker with malicious intent. Distinguishing between them—and solving the problem before sensitive information can be lost or stolen—is part of the research being done by Patrick Tague of Carnegie Mellon’s Silicon Valley campus. Tague was recently awarded the National Science Foundation’s CAREER award for outstanding junior faculty, which provides him five years of funding to continue his research into real-time wireless network defense.
