The bagpipers have long believed it, as they practice at dawn on The Cut. So have the violinists, their fingertips callused with dedication. So, too, have the drummers, whose bloodshot eyes from late-night practices are filled with visions of Carnegie Hall. They, along with hundreds of other music students, have long believed that their music school is one of the best in the country. The 2011 Fiske Guide to Colleges agrees-having selected Carnegie Mellon's School of Music as one of the 10 best programs in the nation, alongside schools such as Juilliard, Berklee, and Yale.
