A case can be made to dye Carnegie Mellon's Scotty mascot green. The university was second among among colleges and universities in green power purchasers in the United States, according to the EPA's Green Power Partnership. Green power purchases help reduce the environmental impact of electricity use and support the development of new renewable generation capacity nationwide, such as solar, wind, geothermal, biogas, and low-impact hydropower.
