A small business creates a high-tech innovation. A student researcher develops a new technology. Both want to get their designs to market quickly. Now they can, thanks to a model being created by Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business and Innovation Works. The "Agile Innovation System," which accelerates the commercialization of new technologies, drew the interest of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration, which awarded the university a two-year, $1 million grant, as part of its nationwide i6 Challenge. The hope is that Carnegie Mellon's system can serve as a national model for efficient collaboration.
