You could say it was a career highpoint. Alan Washburn (E'62,'63,'65) received word that he was awarded what is considered by many as his profession's single most illustrious achievement. It's an accolade that often corresponds with the culmination of an engineer's entire lifetime of accomplishments. An instructor at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., for 39 years, Washburn recently became a lifetime member of the National Academy of Engineering. He was recognized for his contributions to search theory and military operations research.
