Carnegie Mellon University

2017-2018 ID Recarding Process

In 2013, The HUB upgraded to SMART ID Cards and distributed new cards with improved technology to all members of the Carnegie Mellon community. Many of those cards were set to expire four years from the distribution date. As such, a number of faculty, staff and student ID Cards will expire beginning in summer 2017.

To provide an efficient service to those whose cards are set to expire and to plan for the potential increase of ID Card traffic in The HUB, we are implementing a monthly recarding process over the course of the next year for Pittsburgh campus cardholders only. Cardholders whose cards are set to expire will be sent an email with instructions on how to participate. Participation in the recard process is highly recommended, and we look forward to seeing you in The HUB.

Did you receive your recard email?

If you received a recard email from The HUB, then it's time to renew your CMU ID Card! Simply upload your photo using the online photo submission application or visit The HUB during regular business hours to have your photo taken and ID Card produced. The HUB staff is trained to use discretion when making decisions about accepting photos, so please note that if you choose to submit a photo online, the photo must be recent (taken within the last six months).

Additionally, when visiting The HUB to pick up your new card or to have your photo taken, please bring your current ID Card with you so it may be exchanged for your new card.
