The Major in Ethics, History, & Public Policy

Hello, and welcome to the Ethics, History, and Public Policy Program at Carnegie Mellon! We hope that this website will be useful to you whether you are a high school student trying to decide what college or university you will attend, a current student at Carnegie Mellon or a member of the EHPP program alumni network.  If you can’t find what you’re looking for, or have comments or suggestions about the site, please feel free to contact our Director, Jay Aronson.

So what is the EHPP major, and what is it good for?  In a nutshell, the EHPP major prepares students for leadership positions in law, public policy, ethics, and advocacy by providing them with a rigorous, interdisciplinary humanistic and social-scientific education. It also serves as an excellent spring board for graduate study in a wide variety of disciplines.

One of the goals of the EHPP Program is to ensure that all majors have the opportunity to study abroad, do original research, and partake in unpaid or minimally paid internships that will advance their personal and professional aspirations.  If you are interested in helping us achieve this goal, please visit our contribute page.
