Personal Sponsored Accounts
Who is eligible: Individuals who are not officially affiliated with Carnegie Mellon but are doing university-related work can obtain an Andrew account by having the account sponsored. The sponsor must be a faculty or staff member. This account type is fee based and requires a minimum sponsorship of 6 months. Personal Sponsored accounts are intended to fill long-term account needs (6 months or more). For short-term visitor accounts, please consider Guest, Network Guest or Courtesy accounts.

How to request it: Business Administrators, HREM Administrators, or Departmental Administrators can request or renew accounts by sending email to accounts@andrew.cmu.edu or by completing the Personal Sponsored Accounts web form.
Note: There is a non-refundable $120 fee charged for sponsorship. This fee covers the cost of setup and maintenance, as well as the first 6 months of usage. There is a minimum sponsorship period of 6 months. Up to 12 additional months are available for an extra $20 per month. The cost of the entire length of sponsorship will be billed in one transaction the first month of sponsorship. The account can be renewed for 6 to 12 months indefinitely.
Suspension process: The expiration date is set when the account is created. Two renewal notices are sent to both the owner and the sponsor of the account. The first is sent out two weeks before the expiration date, the second one week before. If there is no response to the renewal request, the account is allowed to expire. Renewal requests should be sent to the Help Center and must include: any change of legal name, permanent home address (including zip code), local home address (if different), daytime phone number.
