Mapping Treasury Management’s Payment Network
The Treasury Management organization offers dozens of products and services to its thousands of clients across multiple segments and industries. In order to continue to provide best-in-class services, the business seeks to attain a more profound understanding of its clients’ needs, preferences, and patterns. Product Managers, Client Advisors, Treasury Management Officers, and Relationship Managers are continually mining for more information to help them make the most relevant and impactful recommendations to their clients. While it is becoming possible to have complete visibility into an individual client’s product usage and transactions, we have yet to understand the client in relation to its environment, that is its suppliers, clients, and other counterparties. The objective of the “Payment Network” is to reconstruct–from data–the complete Payables,Receivables, and Liquidity Management ecosystem that is facilitated by PNC. This temporal complex network will serve as a substrate that can be mined for insights using various statistical and machine learning techniques. This will enable the creation of data products and services to address existing and future business cases. There are already efforts underway that have identified cross-sell opportunities, thus confirming that this is a high impact effort.
