Metro21 Awarded a National Science Foundation Grant for COVID-19 Relief

Metro21 continues to work diligently on a recent project with Allies for Children that ensures meals to children in need. The meal delivery system model utilizes school bus routing capabilities to provide meals to the members of the community. Metro21's primary contribution has been the development and optimization of these routes to ensure efficiency and sufficient coverage of the city. The project has already been deployed in Penn Hills and will soon expand to encompass most of the city.

In order to continue this ongoing project, the National Science Foundation has awarded Metro21 a $100,000 grant to be used for resources the project may require. This financial opportunity will help Metro21 expand the project to other communities in need throughout Allegheny County including McKeesport.
