Connected Communities Guest Lecturer Karen Lightman

Metro21 Executive Director Karen Lightman was invited as a guest lecturer by Prof. Daragh Byrne of the CMU School of Architecture to discuss connected communities.

Among the topics presented to the students were citizen engagement, the expectation of clear and transparent communication by citizens and government, and ways that citizens are helping achieve government agenda items through the use of technology.

Professor Byrne teaches course ARC-48676: Connected Communities.  This graduate seminar examines the space between the smart city and smart home. It asks what are the ways in which hyperlocal systems and information can reveal and engage communities?
