The Prestigious 'Smart Cities North America' Award Goes to Metro21

Metro21's Executive Director Karen Lightman shares the honor of receiving the distinguished IDC Government Insights’ fifth annual Smart Cities North America Award (SCNAA) with Professor Stephen Smith of the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute, Traffic21 InstituteUnited Way of Southwestern PA, Eat’n Park, ​A Second Chance Inc., Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Penn Hills School District, ACCESS, McKeesport Area School District, Sto-Rox School District, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, the Municipality of Penn Hills, Allies for Children, ​Penn Hills Clergy Association and other community organizations for Utilizing School Bus Routes and Machine Learning to Deliver Meals to Families in Need in the category of Public Health and Social Services.  

The awards were designed to recognize the progress North American municipalities have made in executing Smart Cities projects, as well as providing a forum for sharing best practices to help accelerate Smart City development in the region.  The presentation ceremony was organized during Smart Cities Connect held April 4-7, 2022 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, OH.
