Editor Responsibilities

The Heinz Journal has two positions available for interested students, Head Editor and Editor.

Head Editors manage a team of roughly five editors and are in charge of the editing process. Head Editors will be assigned team and an accepted research piece at the beginning of the semester. The Head Editor will be responsible for formulating and driving the editing process and communicating with their assigned author(s).

Editors will work as part of a larger team under a head editor to polish an accepted submission. The responsibilities of an editor will vary depending on the type of research piece assigned and the head editor.

Time Commitment

Head Editors can typically expect to spend about 2 hours per week managing their team and working with their assigned authors.

Editors can typically expect to spend about 1 hour per week meeting with their team and reviewing their assigned research piece.

Earning Units

Heinz College students who work as an editor for the Heinz Journal can earn 3 units per semester.
