Two English Department Majors Inducted into Prestigious Academic Honors Society

Two majors in the English Department, Eleanor Haglund and Jenna Bodnar, were recently inducted into the national honor society of Phi Kappa Phi, which recognizes excellence in scholarship in all academic disciplines. Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society. Haglund, Bodnar, and other students will be inducted on April 26 during a ceremony in McConomy Auditorium in the University Center.

Congratulations Eleanor and Jenna!

Major: Creative Writing

“I am honored to be inducted into Phi Kappa Phi. I look forward to meeting the other members and being part of such a distinguished community.”

 Jenna Bodnar

“I am so excited to be inducted into Phi Kappa Phi. It is an honor to have my academic achievements recognized as a member of such a prestigious organization.”

Carnegie Mellon’s student members have benefited directly from society membership through travel grants, study abroad grants and graduate fellowships. Students must have at least a 3.8 cumulative QPA to qualify for membership nomination. Students with a QPA below 3.8 can be nominated provided they are in the upper 10% of the class or there is a compelling rationale that explains why the nominee merits membership.
