First-Year Writing Instructor Dan Markowicz Brings Local Organic Farmers to the Classroom

First-Year Writing Instructor Dan Markowicz Brings Local Organic Farmers to the Classroom

This semester, Dan Markowicz worked to bring practical experience to the classroom in his section of 76101 (Interpretation and Argument).

“Teaching a course on agricultural politics can sometimes lead us to the territory of big concepts and large institutions that we often feel separated from in our everyday lives,” Dan says.

“So, I asked Aeros Lillstrom-Brittenburg and Chris Brittenburg of Who Cooks For You Farm, a small local organic farm, to speak to the class about the work they do and to have a discussion led by the students’ questions,” he adds.

The class visit was successful and helped the class forge links to the local community.
