Technical Writing Program Alumni Honored by STC

Independent technical writer and CMU TW alumnus Janis Ramey was named a Fellow of the Society for Technical Communication at this year's conference in Atlanta. Fellow is the highest rank that the Society confers upon its members.

In a press release, the STC praised Ramey and her achivements in the field. "Recipients of the Fellow designation have attained eminence in the field of technical communication through achievements and contributions to the profession and Society."

"She’s been an active in the Society for Technical Communication since she was a student at Carnegie Mellon University, where she was in the first class of undergraduate technical writing majors in the U.S. and won the first scholarship offered by the Society."

"Her most satisfying accomplishment is starting and continuing to run STC WorkQuest™, a support group that has touched and presumably helped about 300 people during their job searches."
