Play, Pause, Rethink: Exploring AI Through Games and Classroom Creativity

Join the Center for Transformational Play and Dr. Jordan Mroziak for a new professional learning experience focused on AI literacy, ethical systems design, and game-based learning.

This immersive workshop invites educators to experience AI literacy through play, storytelling, and systems design. Using the game Cosmend alongside other AI literacy activities, participants step into the role of designers tasked with repairing fictional social media systems for alien communities across the galaxy. As they play, reflect, and redesign, participants uncover how algorithms, recommendations, and platform structures influence human behavior and societal outcomes. Along the way, educators are introduced to core principles of transformational game design and leave with practical strategies for creating classroom experiences where students do not simply learn about AI, but actively question, critique, and reshape the systems around them.
