Using Educational Technology

The Office of Technology for Education (OTE) aims to provide instructors with the information and support necessary to create the most effective implementation of learning technologies possible. This section of the site provides information about best practices in using educational technology, summarize research findings from several evaluations, point you to resources for common teaching tools, and highlight projects that have demonstrated success in enhancing education.

Best Practices

In addition to keeping up-to-date with current topics and changes in the educational technology landscape, the OTE OTE collects, synthesizes and summaries examples and research on teaching with technology in order to identify successful models of use.

Tools

A variety of tools are available at Carnegie Mellon to help you provide access to course material and content, demonstrate concepts and processes, facilitate discussions and engage students. Here are several resources for some of the more commonly used teaching technologies:

Projects

The OTE is involved in a number of development projects that carry the potential for a wide impact, and deepen our understanding of how technology can be best used to support teaching and learning.
