Demographic Effects of Brownfield Redevelopment

The WPBC worked in conjunction with Heritage Community Initiatives in Braddock, PA to study the relationship between brownfields and the neighborhoods in which they sit. Based on decennial census data (1970, 1980, 1990, 2000) the proposed tool was intended to identify the best practices for future development alternatives. By charting selected indicators from census data and mapping the chronology of the site development process, we were looking for relationships between development strategies and resultant effects on the surrounding population.
