ScottyCon

On Saturday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., check out this student-run anime & games convention! Panels, performances, and activities will run all day. This event is also open to the general public, and all are welcome! Learn more about the event.

Hacking 4 Humanity

From March 18 to 24, join the Tartan community, learn about creating tech and policy, and have fun! Online hate is on the rise, leading to devastating real-world effects on individuals and communities around the world. From March 18 to March 24, you're invited to join other undergrad and graduate students from Duquesne, Carnegie Mellon, Duquesne, and Pitt at a hybrid hackathon where you will develop new tech and policy solutions that mitigate online hate and create safer communities. Compete as teams or individuals to earn prizes and get the chance to work with tech industry advisors! Learn more and register.

YogaRoots Workshop

Namaste! On Wednesday, March 22, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., explore internalized oppression in bystander situations using discussion, movement, meditation, and reflective activities. Felicia Savage Friedman, Founder & CEO of YogaRoots On Location, LLC®, will guide Tartans through this unique yoga session. They believe collective liberation is our path to healing. It is their dream to recognize our humanity and find the courage to end systems of racism, patriarchy, and capitalism together. Please register in advance by March 20.

The McGinnis Venture Competition

On Tuesday, March 21, from 1 to 7 p.m., The McGinnis Venture Competition returns! This platform is exclusively for Carnegie Mellon University's community of student entrepreneurs. It brings together Carnegie Mellon's best and brightest student entrepreneurs to compete for $60K in investments. Join us in cheering on the finalist teams for the Final Round Celebration on March 21! Help cheer the final round teams to victory by attending the final round celebration. The event will also be live streamed to allow for international and remote community members to attend. The live stream will be posted on the McGinnis Venture Competition events page on the day of the event. Learn more about this event.

Energy Career Fair

Check out this energy-specific career fair on Tuesday, March 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. In partnership with CMU's Energy Week and the Energy Science, Technology & Policy (EST&P) Program, this electrifying event is for students from all majors who are passionate about the energy sector! The career fair is tailored to employers in the energy sector who are interested in recruiting students for internships or full-time opportunities. Registration will open in Handshake two weeks before the fair.

Spring Swap

CSpring cleaning can benefit everyone! On Friday, March 17, from 2 to 6 p.m., bring your gently used, still good items for others to take or browse through what others have donated. Learn more about the event.

Orchid Obsession

Bring your camera! On Saturday, March 18 and 19, head to the south hills to check out some stunningly unique orchids. Hundreds of beautiful and unique orchids will be on display, along with experts offering growing and maintenance techniques. Love what you see? One of the show's most popular features is the Sales Area, where you can purchase orchids from a wide range of vendors from the eastern United States. Many plants are perfect for the beginning orchid grower, and there is also a large selection of rare and unusual orchids for the more adventurous grower. Learn more and register in advance.

Penguin-Palooza!

It's a Penguin party! On March 18 and 19, waddle on over to the National Aviary and celebrate everyone's favorite flightless feathered friends: penguins! Meet the colony of African Penguins in Penguin Point, watch a fun feeding and talk with National Aviary experts, find out what makes penguins so unique, make your own penguin craft, and even enjoy a scheduled appearance by Iceburgh from the Pittsburgh Penguins between 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Learn more about the aviary and register in advance.

Winter Market

The final Bloomfield Market of the season is on Saturday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Located in the heart of Bloomfield in Pittsburgh, PA, the Bloomfield Winter Market is a farmer's market that takes place from December to March. The market emphasizes locally grown, produced, and created items. You'll find produce, cheese, meat, coffee, hummus, prepared hot and cold foods, and so much more! Learn more about the event.
