Prior-Prior Year (PPY) / Early FAFSA

A federal government decision will require students and families completing a FAFSA to use tax information from two years prior to the academic year, as opposed to one year prior. This shift, commonly referred to as Prior-Prior Year (PPY) or Early FAFSA, has also been adopted by the College Board for those completing the CSS PROFILE. Undergraduate financial aid process change

In an effort to streamline the undergraduate financial aid application process for Carnegie Mellon families, the requirement that all students and families submit tax documents has been changed beginning with the 2016-2017 academic year. View detailed information regarding this change.


Financial aid timeline & process for 2016-2017

CURRENT CMU STUDENTS: The timeline and process for applying for 2016-2017 financial aid is now available. The preferred deadline was April 15, 2016; however, students may still apply after this date. 

PROSPECTIVE/INCOMING STUDENTS: The financial aid information and process instructions on this website are for upperclass students only. If you're a prospective undergraduate student, please visit the Office of Admission's financial aid website.
