Information and Communication Technology and Policy

The Information and Communication Technology Policy program in EPP is among the strongest research groups in the country working on the policy aspects of advanced telecommunications and information technologies. Research in EPP is addressing a variety of issues. How should telecommunication services be classified? What services, if any, should be regulated and how? How should technologies and standards be chosen? How should spectrum be managed? Although the Internet has become an indespensible vehicle for commerce, most commerce-related laws and regulations were not designed with this in mind. How should internet commerce be regulated?
