School of Drama
The School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon is a member of the Consortium of Conservatory Theatre Training Programs. To apply to the School of Drama, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
- Submit the Common Application and Carnegie Mellon Common Application Supplement, indicating the particular option(s) you wish to pursue, by December 1, 2007.
- No Early Decision consideration is available for admission to the School of Drama, although applicants may audition in November if their application is submitted by November 1, 2007.
- If you need to make travel arrangements, make sure your application for admission is on file at least eight weeks prior to your selection audition/portfolio review date.
- Schedule an audition or portfolio review. Applicants MUST register online for an audition or portfolio review in order to be considered for admission to the School of Drama.
- Appointments will be honored on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- An email confirming the time and date of your audition/portfolio review will be sent shortly after you register.
- After scheduling the audition or portfolio review, applicants MUST submit the $80 audition/portfolio review fee.
- Allow at least four hours for an audition.
- Allow at east one hour for a portfolio review.
- The School of Drama does not accept videotape auditions for Acting or Music Theatre.
International Applicants
International applicants must make arrangements for submitting a videotape of their audition by contacting the School of Drama directly at 412-268-2392. There are no auditions by mail for domestic students.
Transfer Students
Transfer applicants follow the same procedures as freshmen applicants. Transfer students in acting, music theatre and dramaturgy are classified as freshmen in the program.
