Mathematica Installation Instructions
Use the installation instructions appropriate for your operating system.
Windows XP and Higher
- Download the installer file to your computer.
- Extract the zipped folder using Extract All under Windows XP (right click to reveal this option) or use WinZip if you have a version of Windows before XP.
- Open the file named Mathematica_license_agree.doc, which contains detailed instructions for installing either the networked or standalone version of Mathematica.
- Launch the installer and follow the instructions presented to register your copy.
- You will need to re-register or replace this copy each year when the license code expires on August 31 plus a short grace period.
MacOS 10.3 and Higher
NOTE: You cannot run the installer from the .dmg image. You must copy the directories from the Mathematica_6.dmg file to the hard drive on which you want to install Mathematica, then run the installer from there.
- Download the Mathematica_6.dmg file to your hard drive. Double-click on the compressed files.
- Follow the on screen instructions. Drag the Mathematica logo to the hard drive on which you will install Mathematica.
- After copying the files, read the essential (very important) installation information contained in the Mathematica_license_agree.
- Follow the directions presented by the installer using the information provided in the file.
- You will need to re-register or replace this copy each year when the license code expires on August 31 plus a short grace period.
