Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program

Application Deadline: 10 February

The Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program addresses the health and social service needs of underserved and vulnerable populations throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area. Each year, we select up to 25 graduate students or residents from any discipline who may be interested in providing community-based service. Fellows design a direct service project that they implement through a community agency for a few hours a week while they remain in graduate school. Fellows receive a $2,000 stipend.

Application Deadline is February 10, 2012.

Fellows will be selected to start their Fellowship year by April 1, 2012.

WE ALSO HAVE LAUNCHED AN ENVIRONMENTAL FELLOWS INITIATIVE focused on environmental influences on health.

Additionally, the Schweitzer Program cultivates a cadre of interdisciplinary like-minded professionals in training. We draw on Dr. Albert Schweitzer’s ethic of “Reverence for Life” and his vision that a wealth of idealism and altruism exists that can be tapped as a powerful instrument against the problems facing the world today.

All graduate students still in school or training in March 2013 are eligible to apply.
