Cross-Campus Coffee Chats!

This is a campus-wide program that encourages spontaneous 1-1 and small group socializing between graduate students. To participate, just fill out a form with details about yourself and who you’d like to meet and our algorithm will match you.

How it works:

1. Fill out the form here by the end of Friday (03/05), anywhere on earth.

2. By the end of the weekend, we will email you and your match(es) with what you've paired on and suggested meeting times.

3. Hop on a zoom call or meet up outside! If meeting in person, please obey social distancing and wear masks. If you aren't feeling well, please meet over Zoom.

You can use this program in many different ways! For example, use it to socialize with different majors (or within your own), to find connections for your interdisciplinary projects, find an exercise buddy, or seek advice from other students.

This program will run once every three weeks. The form is open for one week and we will send out matches the following week.

 Data privacy disclaimer:

We will never share any individual’s form answers. We may publish aggregate information about form responses to help ensure the continuation of this program. You may permit or deny the inclusion of your data in the aggregate info we publish with the questions at the end of the form.

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or want to help with the program, please reach out to grad-coffee-chats@andrew.cmu.edu.

Happy coffee-chatting,

Escape Room

Virtual Search for the Cure is an immersive virtual escape room game that features a mysterious dilemma that teams must tackle together.

Teams are put into the shoes of a biomedical researcher, confronted with a mysterious ailment infecting the people around them.

Your group will play in teams of 4 to 6 players, with a captain to lead each team. Each team will choose a time convenient for them to virtually gather to complete the episode. At the end of the play period, all the scores will be compiled, and a final scoreboard will be sent to all participants showing where their team placed and announcing the winning team.

What: Escape Room - Virtual Search for the Cure

When: Saturday, March 20th - Saturday, March 27th

Where: Your couch, your desk, your dinner table, wherever - it’s virtual!

Who: CMU graduate students
