Welcome to the GSA Blog!

By Cole Gleason, VP of Communications AY18-19

Students, friends, Tartans, lend me your eyes!

The Graduate Student Assembly has long sought to make our website a valuable repository of information for graduate students. We often publish reports, such as our annual Stipend Report and Grad Student Voices surveys, as well as a breakdown of the CMU Student Health Insurance Plan. Occasionally, we have also used this space as a location to speak directly to graduate students about timely issues, such as our investment in the University’s endowment or our call for student representation on the Presidential Search committee. But these updates have been few and far between.

Our main form of communication has been through email. While this is still the most direct form of communication to current students, messages do not persist as a historical record, or allow for easy sharing with others. So I have to decided to create this GSA Blog on the website to allow for frequent updates from GSA. We will cover a range of topics, including GSA progress on implementing our Strategic Plan and profiles of students and campus events. Sometimes our blog posts will cover a topic that we have also sent emails about, but we hope to go more in-depth on our blog and detail the history of our initiatives, so our readers can see how everything comes together.

If you would like to stay up to date on the GSA Blog, you can subscribe to our posts using an RSS reader. You can also follow us on Facebook or Twitter to see when new posts are published. If you would like to write a post for the GSA Blog, please email gsa-vpcomm@andrew.cmu.edu and explain what topic you would like to write about!
