Revenue from selling food during Malaysian Food Festival to cover some of the costs for advertising, preparing and serving food, and cleaning up.

Annual membership fees for current and new members. Open to any CMU students interested in experiencing Malaysian cultures. May change slightly depending on the number of new members we get in the coming semesters.

The JFC will fund $100 per semester for food for rush/recruitment, $200 per semester for food at events, $5 per person per semester for food for general body meetings, and $15 per person per event for food at a cultural event, at a cap to 2 events.

As the Malaysian Food Festival is our biggest event, we will be preparing a variety of Malaysian delicacies in large proportions. Due to the inclement weather this year, we were unable to carry out the festival on the scale at which we intended. As such, the Budaya board members have decided to make up for this with a larger festival this year. The bulk of the money comes from the cost of purchasing raw halal meat and rice.

We require utensils, plates, bowls, and napkins to serve food. We also require charcoal for grilling our satay skewers.

We celebrate one of the biggest events in Chinese culture with lunch. Since the Chinese make up more than a third of Malaysian population, Chinese New Year is one the biggest cultural celebration in Malaysia besides Hari Raya. Most of the expenses involve raw material such as chicken, meat, fish and rice in order to prepare authentic Chinese-Malaysian dishes. Open to all CMU population who wishes to learn more about the Chinese culture especially in the bigger context of the Malaysian culture.

Hari Raya dinner is another of our highlights during the Spring semester. Hari Raya is the biggest cultural event in Malaysia and continues to be celebrated by Malaysians abroad. Most of the expenses are for the traditional Hari Raya dinner which will include several traditional Malay dishes such as rendang, curry, ketupat, satay, nasi lemak, lemang, ayam goreng and ayam masak merah. In addition to food, we will be preparing several traditional Malay drinks such as teh tarik, bandung, teh ais and limau sirap.

Since we have events for Chinese New Year and Eid Ul-Ftr, the board has decided to celebrate the main festival of another of the three main races in Malaysia: the Indians. We intend to have a traditional Diwali meal with Malaysian-Indian style food. The meal will be open to all CMU students who would like to sample the uniqueness of the Diwali celebration in the Malaysian setting.

Apart from the utensils and trays for serving the Indian-Malaysian dishes, we require oil lamps to symbolize Diwali being the "festival of lights," which will provide the ambience for the event.

An event to celebrate the graduation of Budaya's seniors. Since the Malaysian community in CMU is relatively small, we invite CMU students to sample a meal with a variety of Malaysian food, as well as to get to know about our Malaysian community in CMU.

Gifts and prizes for graduating seniors as a sign of appreciation to their contributions to Budaya over the years. Gifts approximately are to be awarded to 10 people.

JFC does not fund gifts for graduating seniors.

Food and drinks for old members as well as new members. Will be preparing some Malaysian dishes which serve as an introduction to the rich and diverse Malaysian culture.
