The Malaysian Cultural Organization, Budaya, is a student organization established to promote Malaysian culture and heritage to the general community of Carnegie Mellon and Pittsburgh. Apart from propagating and introducing the richness of Malaysian culture, we also aim to foster closer relationships among our members, and to maintain a close network of it's members with news of Malaysia.

As the Malaysian Food Festival is our biggest event, we will be preparing a variety of Malaysian delicacies in large proportions. Due to the inclement weather this year, we were unable to carry out the festival on the scale at which we intended. As such, the Budaya board members have decided to make up for this with a larger festival this year. The bulk of the money comes from the cost of purchasing raw halal meat and rice.

Since the Chinese make up more than a third of Malaysian population, Chinese New Year is one the biggest cultural celebration in Malaysia besides Hari Raya. Open to all CMU population who wishes to learn more about the Chinese culture especially in the bigger context of the Malaysian culture.
