Refreshments (+) $300.00 $300.00 $300.00

AIAA will have multiple guest lectures during the 2012-2013 academic year. During these presentations, professionals from prominent aerospace companies such as Boeing and Sandia National Laboratories will lecture on campus to plus or minus 20 AIAA interested members. To increase attendance and comfort, we plan to order pizza and pop and would greatly appreciate JFC funding for this purpose.

Refreshments (+) $300.00 $200.00 $200.00

AIAA will have monthly general body meetings to discuss with our members future design competitions, guest lectures, conventions, and other miscellaneous items. Pizza and pop will be provided to the attendees to increase attendance and comfort. We currently have 45 official members and anticipate the majority of our members to attend these meetings.

fund food at 2 GBMs, 1 per semester

Advertising Public Relations (+) $75.00 $75.00 $75.00

Due to the new status of AIAA, the majority of students at Carnegie Mellon are unaware of our existence. To spread our name around campus and increase interest and membership, advertising expenditures are going to be present. These will include banners, posters, and other miscellaneous items to spread around campus.

Other Supplies (+) $200.00 $200.00 $200.00

In order to promote collaboration and member bonding within AIAA and other students on campus interested in aerospace, we plan to have multiple design competitions throughout the 2012-2013 academic year. We are already planning a competition involving airplane design using common materials, with the winner being the individual demonstrating the longest flight.

Meals Domestic (+) $400.00 $400.00 $400.00

During the spring 2012 semester, AIAA successfully had a breakfast with professionals the morning of the Employment Opportunities Conference. We plan to hold similar events during the fall 2012 Technical Opportunities Conference and the spring 2013 Employment Opportunities Conference. This event includes hosting roughly 5 companies, with 2 or 3 recruiters each, and 20 interested and dedicated members. We hope to serve a hot breakfast, including eggs, muffins, bagels, and refreshments for each event.

Other Travel Domestic (+) $200.00 $200.00 $200.00

During the spring of 2013, we plan to attend a national AIAA conference in Washington, DC. 10 members will be attending the conference, and our main method of transportation will be by car. The trip will include taking 2 cars roughly 500 miles each total. We are asking the JFC to fund the gas needed to attend this conference.

Donations/Contributions (-) $500.00 $500.00 $500.00

The mechanical engineering department at Carnegie Mellon has graciously donated this stipend due to their vast interest and hope for our new chapter. We plan to use this balance for department specific activities, most notably sending members to national AIAA conferences.

Other Sales (-) $100.00 $100.00 $100.00

AIAA plans to take part in general fundraising, such as T-shirt sales, bake sales, etc.

Membership and Dues (-) $250.00 $450.00 $450.00

For the upcoming academic year, we plan to invoke $10 membership dues. We hope to hold various opportunities for dedicated members to have their dues wavered, but overall we anticipate roughly 25 members will be paying dues.
