About

“During my PhD I studied how surface water disposal of fossil fuel associated wastewater affected downstream drinking water quality. I conducted a 3-year field study in the Monongahela River to determine how constituent concentrations and associated loads changed in the river basin, and whether these changes were caused by surface discharges associated with shale gas extraction. I found that increasing concentrations of bromide, which can contribute to the formation of carcinogenic byproducts in drinking water, was due to surface water disposal of fossil fuel associated wastewater.

Currently, I am an associate professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Environmental Engineering Graduate Program Director at Manhattan College. I am also the faculty advisor for our student chapter of the Society of Women Engineers.”
