I think TechNights provides an incredible opportunity to be involved in the local Pittsburgh community with which, as CMU students, our interactions can be rare. I feel so grateful to go here and I'd love to use those resources to motivate young students to get involved with STEM.

I am passionate about working with the TechNights team to spread enthusiasm for STEM and encourage the exploration of technology among female middle school students in Pittsburgh.

I have always been passionate about community outreach programs and education. As a Pittsburgh native, I was excited to be at CMU, and hopefully give back to the community that served me in so many different ways. TechNights was the perfect opportunity to do so!

After being one of few girls in the robotics club or tech program in middle and high school, it is important to me to show girls that women are involved and successful in every field and at every level of tech. TechNights provided me an opportunity to do so and to get more involved in the broader Pittsburgh community.

TechNights serves as a fun reinforcement for me to keep taking action to increase women's participation in STEM. Stereotypes still exist, which might make young girls feel under-confident while choosing their high-school and undergrad majors, steering them away from STEM. Introducing them to such concepts early sounded very fun to me, and I joined, I hope it will help them feel confident with these topics later on!

My first engagement with the Technights program was when I led a session on Computer VIsion during my first semester. I was amazed by how passionate and interactive the kids were, and what better way to engage them than to get them to our exciting campus!
