Another Paper Receives Test of Time Award!

SIGMOBILE has awarded Dr. Satya's paper with Brian D. Noble, Dushyanth Narayanan, James Eric Tilton, Jason Flinn, and Kevin R. Walker, "Agile Application-aware Adaptation for Mobility," ACM SOSP, 1997, with the "Test of Time Award" for 2024. These awards recognize papers that have had a sustained and significant impact in the SIGMOBILE community over at least a decade. The award recognizes that a paper's influence is often not fully apparent at the time of publication, and it can be best judged with the perspective of time.

SIGMOBILE states:

"The Odyssey paper introduced fidelity—the degree to which data presented on a client matches the server's reference copy—as a critical factor for mobile applications. It pioneered the concept of application adaptation for mobile environments, extending operating systems to support this adaptation across a wide range of mobile information access applications. Odyssey's notion of application-aware adaptation has had a profound and lasting impact on the evolution of mobile operating systems."
