SPARCS Tips

The following are this week's tips on using SPARCS -

  • Research Conflict of Interest Certifications: The Office of Research Integrity and Compliance (ORIC) has recently updated the process for generating Research Conflict of Interest Certifications in the SPARCS COI Module. You and your faculty may have received Research Certifications Withdrawal Notifications as most outstanding Research Certifications have been withdrawn by ORIC which generated automated emails to the affected researchers. There is nothing further that needs to be done with the Research Certifications. It’s ok… you can smile.

Going forward: Proposals will continue to be reviewed for COI requirements before they can be sent to SPA.  These reviews were previously based on completion of Research Certifications; now, for proposals without Research Certifications, the review will be based on Annual Certifications.  In practice, this means that for most researchers, completing the Annual Certification once a year will prevent award holds for the next 12 months.
