Phishing emails are malicious messages that cybercriminals send hoping to gain access to important data or systems. Phishing emails are one of the favorite tools used by scammers. Phishing, spelled with a "ph", is a little like fishing with an "f" in that a cybercriminal uses tempting bait to hook you. For example, phishing emails may try to trick you with scare tactics or offers that are too good to be true. It's important to realize these threats exist and be cautious of any email you receive. You can receive a phishing email at work or on your personal email. You probably received a phishing email at some point even if you didn't realize it. Fortunately there are ways you can fight back against phishing. If you have recieved a phishing email you can report it to your Information Security team. Remember, when it comes to cybersecurity we all need to level up.
