Samaras on Sanders climate plan

CEE and EPP's Costa Samaras was quoted in an Earther Gizmodo article about presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ climate plan. The proposal allocates $16.3 trillion through 2030 to vastly change the energy and transportation sectors in the U.S. and combat climate change. One aspect of the plan, however, will be difficult: the plan explicitly states it will not rely on nuclear power. This is welcome by energy advocates, but would drastically alter the electrical grid.

“Does that mean that all existing nuclear plants that are still running in 2030 would be shut down?” said Samaras. “That seems like an unnecessary fight and expense at a time where every bit of carbon reduction counts.”
