Director of Enrollment Compliance

Bio

As the Director of Enrollment Compliance, Nick Hinkle partners with the Executive Leadership Team to ensure institutional policies, procedures and practices align with federal and state regulations. In this role, he collaborates across divisional units to monitor regulatory developments, assess compliance risks, and guide the institution’s response to an evolving regulatory landscape. He also provides training, consultation, and regulatory updates to promote a culture of compliance throughout the division.

Previously, Nick held positions in Carnegie Mellon’s Office of Student Financial Aid and Office of Undergraduate Admission. He brings more than 18 years of higher education experience spanning financial aid, admission, recruitment, enrollment management, and coaching. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Nick has been actively engaged in the broader university community through service on the CMU Mentorship Program, Summer Data Team, Data Stewardship Council Operations Committee, and Graduate Application and Admission Data Committee.

Nick is an active member of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) and the Pennsylvania Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (PASFAA). His professional engagement includes advocacy efforts through service on PASFAA's Government Relations Committee, helping advance policies that support student access and success.

A former student-athlete, Nick earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Hope College in 2008 and a Master of Arts in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University in 2015. He resides in Irwin, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Anna, and their two sons, Henry and Jack.
