Step 4: Publish a Collection
The Administer this collection link is your access to publishing, link checking, permissions, logs, reports, and other advanced server options.
Once you are satisfied with your collection on the staging server, you may proceed to publish it to the production server. Follow these steps to publish:
- In the AWPS interface, click on the Administer this collection link. A screen similar to the following appears; it includes a Publishing section.
Depending on the level of access you have to a collection, different publishing options are displayed:
AutoPublish Off (turn on)
When AutoPublish is on, your files are automatically published to the production server after they are transferred via SFTP. By default, this option is turned off to encourage you to first view your collection on the staging server.
Begins publishing to production immediately. Depending on the size of the collection, the process may take up to 10 minutes.
Publishes to production at approximately 4 a.m. the following day.
Publishes to production at a specific hour and time that you enter. When you select this option, the current date is automatically added. So if you enter now + 12 hours or 2 days, it will publish at that exact hour + your entry.
View your content on the staging server before publishing
Allows you to review your files on a staging server before you publish to production.
- Click on one of the available options to begin publishing.
- The Publish Collection page is displayed. If you selected Publish Now, the names of each file in the collection are displayed. The status of the action is shown at the bottom of the page.
- Once the publish has finished, you can exit the Andrew Web Publishing system.
