Drupal 2.12 Release Notes

By The University CMS Team

The Drupal Platform has been updated to version 2.12, introducing various fixes and enhancements to our web presence and authoring experience.

No action is required by our customers at this time.

Highlights

We are enhancing our web presence.

  • Accessibility and Performance | Animated GIFs have been temporarily disabled for Drupal sites. Because animated GIFs can adversely affect accessibility and SEO, we have disabled animations for GIFs across all Drupal sites while we work on a solution to address these concerns.
  • Search Engine Optimization | XML sitemaps can now be viewed in browser, improving search engine visibility and potentially increasing rankings. This change requires additional updates from our partners in Computing Services, so more to come soon!

We are making Drupal easier to use.

  • Page Settings Sidebar | Configuring your webpages just got easier. Based on insights from our Drupal Users Workshop, we relabeled and reorganized the editing sidebar so that frequently used fields are easier to find, better labeled and more appropriately grouped. We removed fields that are not web and SEO best practice to use.
  • Reusable Content | More access to use, edit and create reusable content. Our Content Creator role can now access reusable content, making it easier to update, edit and manage reusable content from one place.

We are fixing bugs and continuing to make system updates.

  • Listing Grid Boxes | We fixed an issue with grids. New grid boxes can be added after listing boxes in grids again.
  • Drupal System Updates | Several Drupal modules and platform dependencies were updated as part of this release. We continuously apply updates and patches to modules to ensure our system is up-to-date and secure.

Known Issues

  • RSS Grids | Some RSS Grids needed to be adjusted to use a different source URL in order to properly display. A future update will improve the stability of this feature.
  • Articles and Navigation | Some existing articles, when republished, were being added to a Navigation Menu by mistake. This issue was fixed on the live sites, and a future update will prevent this from occuring.
