Research-Remaking Cities Institute - Carnegie Mellon University

Research

The heart of the Remaking Cities Institute is the research conducted by its staff and affiliated faculty.  RCI promotes improving the quality of life in cities and towns through academic, applied and action-oriented research into place-making and community redevelopment.  Having transitioned from a industry-based economy to a diversified technology and service-based economy, Pittsburgh serves as a model for the remaking of post-industrial cities.  Through its research, RCI shares the lessons learned in Pittsburgh with post-industrial cities around the world.

RCI studied the impact of LED lighting in Pittsburgh's business districts. See the results.
