Email and Calendar
No matter what you do at Carnegie Mellon, you will probably become dependent on the e-mail and bulletin board system. Carnegie Mellon uses the Cyrus electronic mail and bulletin board system. Cyrus is based on standard Internet protocols. The protocols used are Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP4), Post Office Protocol (POP3), and Multi-purpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) for enclosures.
In addition to email, campus affiliates benefit from using the Andrew Calendar system, a powerful time management tool. Calendar allows you to schedule meetings and resources for others through active Calendar accounts. Excluding its regular service maintenance window, Andrew Calendar is available any time. The Calendar desktop client can be run on Windows, MacOS and Unix-based platforms; the Calendar Web client is accessible from popular web browsers.
