Graduate Application Requirements

All applicants to the Master of Music or Master of Science program must complete the following application requirements by December 1.:

  • Please be sure to review the audition/portfolio requirements for your program of choice. 
  • Submit the School of Music’s online application (see detailed requirements below)
  • Pay the $130.00 application and audition fee online using a credit card.

All applicants to the Advanced Music Studies Certificate program must complete the application requirements by the following deadline:

  •  AMSC Priority Deadline #1: December 1
  • AMSC Priority Deadline #2: March 1
  • AMSC Deadline #3 - FINAL DEADLINE: June 1

Auditions/portfolios will be held in-person, live virtual, and via recorded auditions for the 2022-2023 application cycle. Please review requirements for your area. Please check to see if your area requires pre-screening.

Required Application Materials:

  • Written Personal Statement
  • Repertoire or Portfolio List
  • Music Resumé
  • Professional Resumé (if applying for an assistantship)
  • Three letters of recommendation
    (submitted through the online application)
  • Unofficial or Official Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
    (desired minimum GPA: 3.0)
  • Pre-screening, audition, or portfolio requirements as noted by area.
  • Test Scores: 
    • Students whose native language is not English must submit an official TOEFL, IELTS or DuoLingo score.
      (TOEFL code 2074; Department Humanities - Music 19)
    • Music & Technology (MS) applicants may submit an official GRE score (we are test-optional for the 202-2022 application cycle).
