Bio
Kamil Akhuseyinoglu is a postdoctoral fellow in the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), joined the TEEL Lab in 2025. He obtained his PhD in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh, supervised by Dr. Peter Brusilovsky. His research interests include designing and developing adaptive learning environments for computer science education , learning analytics, educational data mining, educational recommender systems and explainable AI (xAI). His dissertation explored the effects of learner-controlled and system-supported social comparison visualizations in online learning environments. During his PhD studies, he worked in several NSF funded projects that focused on CS education.
He completed his master’s degree in information systems at Middle Eastern Technical University, Turkey and bachelor’s degree in computer science at Bilkent University, Turkey. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked as a full-stack software engineer at Software Technologies Institute in Turkey for six years.
