Maternal Care

How can we increase access to prenatal healthcare in rural communities?

In 2017, the National Rural Health Association estimated that 673 rural medical facilities (of 2,000 nationwide) were at risk of closure. As hospitals across America lose funding and consolidate, often obstetric units are the first to be cut. How we improve access to prenatal healthcare to rural mothers?

The Solution

The Maternal Care App connects women with their doctors. By wearing a silicon "smart" fabric that connects to a smartphone app, expecting mothers can document their vitals and share these medical details with their doctors. The app also allows women to manage their appointments, exchange messages with their doctors, and access pregnancy and postpartum resources.
