Social Networking Icons

Social networking icons such as Facebook and Twitter can be added to your website and linked to your department's social networks. Once added, the icons will appear site-wide in the gray bar below the search box. Note: There needs to be at least one header navigation item on your site in order for the social networking icons to appear.

Examples of sites that use social networking icons:

To add social networking icons:

  1. Select _internal > site-config > site-config and click Edit.
  2. Locate the Social Networking Links section.
  3. Complete the information:
    • Network - Select the social network from the pull-down menu.
    • URL - Enter the full URL including the http://.
    • Mouseover Text - Enter the text that should appear when someone mouses over the link (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  4. To add another social network, click on the + (top left) and complete the information. Up to four social networking icons can be added. To share additional social networks, create a separate page for them and link to the page as shown below. A link to this page will appear next to the initial four social networking icons added.

Note: The site-config page does not need to be published, however you will need to do a site-wide publish to make sure every page gets updated on the live site. Site-wide publishes should be done outside of regular business hours (before 9am and after 5pm).
