Water Still Out in Wean Hall; Repairs to be Made by 5 p.m. Today

While water service to Scaife and Hamerschlag halls was restored Monday afternoon, Carnegie Mellon's Facilities Management Services reports that service to Wean Hall will not resume until 5 p.m. today (Aug. 8) due to the discovery of a second crack in an 8-inch water line near Hamerschlag Mall. At that time, crews are expected to have completed a temporary configuration to alleviate the problem.

Water to Scaife, Hamerschlag and Wean halls was shut off Monday morning after the 8-inch water line broke.

During today's service outage restrooms will be closed in Wean Hall. There also will be no water to showers, sinks, labs, drinking fountains and other equipment connected to water.

Following the temporary repairs, another water shutdown in Wean lasting 6-8 hours will be required to install permanent fittings. Facilities Management Services will attempt to schedule this outage over the weekend.
