Staff Council Sponsors "Beads for Tulane " Campaign Through Feb. 28

When Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast last fall, it forever altered the lives of those who call that area home. Carnegie Mellon responded in numerous ways, whether by raising money or sending groups of students to help in rebuilding efforts. But the university also supported the Gulf Coast region by allowing students from Tulane University to study at Carnegie Mellon. Though those students have since returned to New Orleans, Carnegie Mellon's relationship with Tulane continues this semester through Staff Council's "Beads for Tulane—Adopt a Campus" campaign.

Carnegie Mellon's Staff Council has partnered with Tulane's Staff Advisory Council to help Tulane employees still struggling to rebound from the damage inflicted by Katrina. Carnegie Mellon staff, faculty and students are encouraged to donate gift cards from Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Target at collection points across campus throughout the campaign. Monetary donations are also accepted. Staff Council will the work with Tulane's Staff Advisory Council to distribute the gift cards to members of their campus who need it most.

Through Feb. 28, Staff Council will have a collection site in the University Center commons area from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Donations can also be made through the following Staff Council volunteers:

Genie Beckom—Warner Hall
Susie Cribbs—Alumni House
