Power Outage Affects 10 Campus Buildings

At 11:04 a.m. today (Tuesday, June 29), portions of the university lost power when a transformer shorted and blew fuses that served 10 campus buildings. There were no personal injuries and no damage to any of the campus structures.

Because there is no lighting and power in the buildings, these facilities have been evacuated and secured for safety reasons. Buildings affected are:

  • Newell-Simon Hall
  • Smith Hall
  • Hamburg Hall
  • 4902 Forbes Ave. (Old Student Center)
  • Printing & Publications Building
  • Planetary Robotics Building
  • Doherty Hall
  • Scaife Hall
  • Roberts Hall
  • Purnell Center for the Arts

Power is expected to be restored to Doherty Hall, Scaife Hall, Roberts Hall and the Purnell Center for the Arts by 8 a.m. tomorrow (June 30) morning. Power to the remaining buildings is expected to be restored sometime tomorrow (June 30).
